what global spatial patterns are apparent in the distribution of the ethnic groups? How has geography both shaped and been influenced by that distribution?
Global spatial patterns? I don't seem to understand. What does your text describe when talking about this?
it said this.... There are thousands of ethnic groups in the world today. However, there are patterns in the distribution of those ethnic groups around the world. For example, in the Americas, Amerindians were often the first ethnic group in these regions. As European colonists settled the regions and introduced African people, the ethnic groups became more diverse. Conversely, in Western Europe the borders of countries most often match ethnic clusters. Although there are a variety of ethnic groups in Western Europe, the major ethnic group in each country is most likely to be the ethnic group for which the country was named. The ethnic groups that live in various regions impact the cultural development of those regions, but the level of an ethnic group's influence can vary. The first ethnic group that creates a permanent and viable society in a region is considered that region's charter group and has a long-lasting influence on the region's dominant or mainstream culture. When other ethnic groups migrate to that region later, they certainly add elements of their culture to the mainstream culture, but their culture can never replace the existing charter culture. For much of the United States, English settlers established the charter culture in the region. African Americans, Hispanics, Asian Americans, and Native Americans are four of the most numerous ethnic minority groups in the United States. The locations of these ethnic groups today reflect the places from which they migrated, their interactions with the charter culture, and their experiences upon arriving in North America. Ethnic groups are clustered at different spatial scales. At the local level, ethnic groups often cluster together to live in ethnic neighborhoods or ethnic enclaves. This distribution pattern is largely the result of chain migration, which is a migration pattern that occurs when a few individuals settle in an area and develop institutions and knowledge that encourages many more immigrants from their group to settle in that same area. In the United States, African American and Hispanic American groups are distributed in ethnic clusters around the country, specifically in major cities. Patterns in the distribution of ethnic groups at the national level illustrate that ethnic groups most often cluster in a specific region of the country. For example, African Americans make up a large percentage of the population in the Southeast, while Asian Americans comprise a large percentage of the population in the West. Finally, at the global level, patterns can be seen in the distribution of ethnic groups on certain continents. For example, people from European ethnic groups are often found in South America and Central American countries as a result of European colonization of the region. @SnuggieLad sorry its kinda long!
Use this link for the first part http://www.bloodbook.com/world-abo.html And the second part is sort of a tricky answer, I assume that when you mean how has Geography shaped and influence I assume you mean culture mixing?
*Ethnicty mixing
Let me read that. Give me a moment.
So for the first one, Ethnic groups tend to gather in specific regions. For example African Americans in the Southeast and Asians in the West. I don't understand the next question though. I see where your confusion is coming from. What I assume it's talking about is the culture portion of geography. If that's the case then the Asians go to the west because of economic opportunity while African Americans were, historically, traded as slaves. This leaves them in the regions that ancestrally they were raised. The southeast had the highest concentration of enslaved individuals.
Don't forget to hit "best response."
Thank you guys so much.. Sorry @BearJeau for giving the best responce to @SnuggieLad his/her is a most helpful answers. thanks tho.
Thanks! Don't forget to close the question.
