THIS IS NOT FOR A TEST OR QUIZ!!! I hate bribing, but I'll give you a medal, and will fan, if you will help me. Can you tell me the differences between chemical changes and physical changes?

OpenStudy (rushwr):

Chemical change is the change in the chemical constituent Physical change is the change in the physical characters Take this example When liquid water goes to water vapour we say it is a physical change. Reactant and product both are water but in different physical forms yaa ? So that's physical change

OpenStudy (missmeow):

So it changes the waters physical features?

OpenStudy (rushwr):

Also imagine you broke a glass now it is in pieces so that's a physical change

OpenStudy (missmeow):

Oh, okay that makes sense

OpenStudy (rushwr):

yes When a change happens without changing its chemical constituent that's physical change

OpenStudy (missmeow):

Okay, thanks! But how do I tell if somethings a chemical change?

OpenStudy (missmeow):

Can you explain like you did with the plate?

OpenStudy (rushwr):

Okai let's take combustion of hydrocarbons. Combustion is when u react hydrocarbons with O2 (oxygen) That results in Carbon dioxide and water Now that's a chemical change. Earlier you had a hydrocarbon and oxygen but now u are left with CO2 and H2O which are chemically different from the reactants.

OpenStudy (photon336):

A physical change doesn't change any of the bonding between atoms in a molecule.

OpenStudy (missmeow):

Okay, that makes sense thanks!

OpenStudy (rushwr):

no problem :)

OpenStudy (missmeow):

@Rushwr could you please medal @Photon336 I want it to be fair and equal.

OpenStudy (rushwr):

Okai sure no problem ! Photon is my buddy I was anyway about to medal him :)

OpenStudy (missmeow):

lol thanks again!

OpenStudy (rushwr):

no problem :)
