The graph shows the depth, y, in meters, of a shark from the surface of an ocean for a certain amount of time, x, in minutes: Part A: Describe how you can use similar triangles to explain why the slope of the graph between points A and B is the same as the slope of the graph between points A and C. (4 points) Part B: What are the initial value and slope of the graph, and what do they represent?

@AnitaS.

OpenStudy (kpop4life123):

i dont know how to do part a ?

OpenStudy (anitas.):

I regret not saving my work. lol let me see though :D

OpenStudy (kpop4life123):

kk :)

OpenStudy (anitas.):

DAANG! I forgot how to do these now... hmm i think we should ask for some help. @Wendy.Ivette11714

@KendrickLamar2014

OpenStudy (wendy.ivette11714):

I have no clue

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

Ok let see.... Part A: because the two triangles are similar, their sides are proportional. in particular the ratio of the legs of the triangles are equal. But since the slope is defined as the ratio of rise over run, that implies that the slopes between AB and AC are equal. Part B: the initial value is 63 , it represents the distance from the ocean surface at time zero. The slope is 42. It tells you that the shark increases its distance from the surface by 42 meters every minute. (I calculated the rise/run).

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

Hope it helps ^_^

OpenStudy (kpop4life123):

omg thank you~!!! u r a lifesaver!!!!!

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

Your welcome

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

Ill give a medal to you and Wendy :)

OpenStudy (kpop4life123):

^-^

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

There :)

OpenStudy (anitas.):

told u someone else could help! ^.^

OpenStudy (anitas.):

lol

OpenStudy (kpop4life123):

YOU ARE A BIG HELP @KendrickLamar2014 THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HELPING ME :D

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):
