2 1/2 divided by 3/5

OpenStudy (sagewilson):

I'd probably help if you turned them into decimals, so 2 1/2 / 3/5 would be 2.50 / 0.60, this would give you 4.166. If you were to turn this into a fraction what would you get?

OpenStudy (sagewilson):

@JaredIam you there? also are there any answer choices?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes there are answer choices

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3/10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1 1/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1 3/4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

those are the answers

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

First turn 2 1/2 into an improper fraction

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

Multiply the the 2 and the bottom add 1 whAt do you get? And keep denominator the same

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

2x2+1?

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

Just the bottom times the whole number plus the top of the fraction

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

@JaredIam

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh thanks

OpenStudy (xmissalycatx):

\[\frac{ 5 }{ 2 }*\frac{ 5 }{ 3 }\]

OpenStudy (xmissalycatx):

The reason it is 5/3 and not 3/5 is because when you are dividing fractions, you take something called the "reciprocal" which basically means you flip the fraction and then it is multiplication rather than division.

OpenStudy (xmissalycatx):

So multiply 5*5 and 2*3 After you get that, if you can simplify go ahead and do that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got the answer

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

:)
