OpenStudy (zaynab123):

need help please :) Explain what the differences are between Mitosis and Meiosis (please explain in as much detail)

OpenStudy (rushwr):

The major difference is that meiosis forms 4 daughter nuclei from one single nuclei each having half the number of chromosomes as parents.

OpenStudy (rushwr):

Mitosis is where the mother nuclei produces 2 identical daughter nuclei containing the same number of chromosomes as the mother nuclei

OpenStudy (rushwr):

Usually mitosis occur in somatic cell division ex: Division of skin cells. When the old skin is shed the daughter nuclei are formed which are identical to each other :)

OpenStudy (rushwr):

Meiosis is where the gamete formation comes in to play. In a human gamete its is 2n right? But the baby is n that happens in meiosis

OpenStudy (zaynab123):

ok thanks
