How do you feel about other religions? How do you feel about people insulting your religion?

OpenStudy (kenljw):

Blasphemy has two basic meaning insulting ones own religion and the other insulting someone else's religion. Where insult is toward contrary of a specific religion, personally I would not Blaspheme any religion but set an example for my religion and communicate any difference that I would be aware off which is not an insult.

I love listening to other people explain their beliefs and worldviews to me! I also love sharing what I believe with other people :) As for the insulting other people's religions or people insulting mine, I think that's very harmful and uncalled for. If ever someone is speaking in a way that is harmful to the individual who believes in the religion I will try to prevent them. However, I do believe in questioning people's religion and likewise letting them question mine. I think it's good to be educated in that way. People who get all angry about their religion being insulted or mocked does not really speak well of what they believe, yeah? xP But questioning is always good :)

OpenStudy (soprano.h.d0816):

I agree ^^ @Babynini

i am fine with the fact of learning about other religions and i am very interested in learning about other religions but when it comes to insulting my religion i feel uncomfortable and angry

OpenStudy (kenljw):

In that case one should be very careful about threats, such as Hell fire or an Apocalypse. Any threat actually brings a response, and could actually be your undoing. Any religion should be able to communicate and demonstrate without resorting to threats which they think protects them.

OpenStudy (mazmaz1):

I'm a Muslim and if people insult my religion or prophet i will feel bad and pray for their guidance but I will NOT attack them or use any sort of violence against them. I am peaceful and most Muslims are those who are not are not Muslims and they shout the loudest and are on the news the most

OpenStudy (jumperman):

I like to debate. I like to share information. I'll be honest, it is sad when people attack you and your beliefs, but I get strength from it. After studying many different mainstream religions, I have come to a conclusion that God exists, the Bible is true, and I am to follow that... and I do. That is my religion. I don't like to label myself because religion is created by man. God, the Bible all these things are not created by man.

OpenStudy (jumperman):

And let me specify: Yahuwah, is who I follow. Not Allah, not Brahma, but Adonai.

OpenStudy (jumperman):

We must also clearly define the line between attacking a religion or belief system and challenging one. A challenge is not specifically an attack, but more of a way to stimulate ones thinking of their own beliefs. If I were to attack, I would have to degrade a persons beliefs, their personage, and anything else I can find to shatter into bits. I welcome challenges to my beliefs. I do not welcome attacks.

For those who have been following my comments on this site for a couple of years know I generally cite scripture references. My history and present outlook are posted on my Face Book Page Kenneth West, Wellsville NY. Its fully public and comments may be made there, there's also a reason given why most religion say you must know the original language in order to understand there Holy works.

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

they can believe what they want. at the end of the day i will keep to my faith but if someone insults my religion that is a different story.

Atsie (atsie):

Insulting another person's religion is what childish immature people do. They want to be mean, degrading, and cutting towards a belief they know nothing about. Taking it at face value that they may disagree with another person's belief's and everything is a much more mature thing to do. We are all sinners, and we all run to whatever religion benefits us. Understanding that first and foremost is a better thing to do rather than to be insulting. We all have a job though in this life. No matter another person's religion, witnessing and showing the love of God to them is the most loving thing we can do.
