OpenStudy (bookworm14):

can you check this please? thank you! (Posted below, please excuse the writing xD )

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Ok, did you do: the formula? I will show you in a moment :

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

A= Pi, (3.14) x R^2 + A = (3.14 x D) x H

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Remember, two radi's make a Diameter, so, So, lets check the answer!

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

What is 15^2?

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

225

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Right, now 225 x 3.14

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

706.5

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

So, we have part I.

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

So, what is the diameter? 225.

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

225 x 3.14?

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

225*3.14 = 706.5

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

706.5. Now, 706.5 x the height, 19

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

Ok what I did to find the surface is Area of circle = (pi * 15 ^2) x 2 because of the top and bottom lateral area (around cylinder) perimeter x height or in this case 2* 15 * pi x 19 = 1789 1789 + 1413 = 3202 ?

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

This is the Surface Area or the Lateral surface area.

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

I have to find the surface area, so I added the lateral (around) to the top and bottom areas

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Yes, I left that out. So, x 2 by 706.5

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

1413.

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

13423.5 Let me round it. 13424.. 13424 + 1413 =

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

your number seems much to big to be the surface area?

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Exactly, I am checking what we've done wrong.. What I am asking is what kind do you need.

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

So, what did you do? I am interested in your answer

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

(Did you do the formula, if so which)

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

i typed it above :) I combined formulas

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

I see! How'd you get 1789?

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

(pi * 15 ^2) x 2?

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

I believe you ARE correct, I just checked, and I multiplied two more than once in my product.

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

ohhh okay, because you had me lost on the math you were doing, it did not make much sense fwew :P

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Lol, I've done the incorrect analyze while I was talking to you, I was looking at the volume page also, XD.

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

ohhh haha ok xD thank you anyways!! :D

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Just to make sure I am a bit iffy when it comes to progression in formula's, my trusted mentor, 'ShadowLedgendX' would check over it.

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

For the surface area of a cylinder, you're basically just looking for the surface area of two circles, and one rectangle

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

Area of a Circle = pi(r)^2

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

|dw:1456506683701:dw|

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

Area of the Rectangle in this case = h(pi)(r)

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

\[Area = 2\pi r^2 + h \pi r\]

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

instead or radius for the rectangle, it should be diameter, let me change that

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):
