Please help me with linear models i will fan and medal

OpenStudy (isuckatschool43):

im getting the question now

OpenStudy (isuckatschool43):

OpenStudy (isuckatschool43):

Question 1: What is the independent variable and what is the dependent variable? Explain how you know this and what it means. I think the dependent variable is Points Assigned and the independent variable is the Number of Sessions. This is because you get more points for the more sessions you do, which means that the outcome of the points is dependent on the sessions

OpenStudy (isuckatschool43):

hi

OpenStudy (welshfella):

Hi You are correct

OpenStudy (isuckatschool43):

sorry i had to go boil water. there are a few more questions on top of this @welshfella

OpenStudy (isuckatschool43):

Question 2: Analyze the scatter plot. Is there a relationship between the two variables? If so, explain what the association is. Describe what it means in the real-world context. im not exactly sure on this one. is the relationship the dependence on each other, like in the last question?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

for a scatter plot it wont be an exact relationship. Where is the plot?

OpenStudy (isuckatschool43):

OpenStudy (mathmale):

"I think the dependent variable is Points Assigned and the independent variable is the Number of Sessions. This is because you get more points for the more sessions you do, which means that the outcome of the points is dependent on the sessions" I would think that the purpose of attending these sessions is to improve grades or to earn credits, so it certainly makes sense to treat the number of sessions attended as the independent variable and the points assigned as the dependent one.

OpenStudy (welshfella):

The slope os positive maning its like /. There is an approximate direct elationship between the 2 variables the number of points tends to increase as the number of sessions increase.

OpenStudy (welshfella):

gotta go

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Yes. In other words, the number of points assigned depends upon the number of sessions attended. The points are close enough to the straight lines (regression lines) so that it's reasonable to assume an approx. direct relationship.

OpenStudy (isuckatschool43):

thank you so much
