OpenStudy (daijhab):

One leg of a right triangle is 17 inches longer than the other leg. The hypotenuse is 25 inches long. How long is the shorter of the legs?

imqwerty (imqwerty):

let one of the leg be \(x\) inches long so the other leg will be \(x+17\) inches long and we are given that hypotenuse is \(25\) inches long using Pythagoras theorem you get this- \(x^2 +(x+17)^2 =25^2\) solve it to get x :) and then you can also find \(x+17\) Welcome to Openstudy please post such question in the math section
