So im doing a project where I am proving that the magneitc field surrounding a current carrying wire is inversely proportional to the distance from the wire from where the magnetic field is calculated from, but when i plug in the numbers I do not get an inverse relationship, but when I graph the data I do. E.g. for distance of 0.02 metres away from wire, I am getting 0.0499 mT, and i know 0.0499 is not = to 1/0.02. HELP PLZ?!!!! PROJECT IS DUE TOMMROW?!!

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

thr formula to plug into is: \(B = \dfrac{\mu I}{2 \pi r}\) see here: http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/magnetic/magcur.html#c3
