2. What are some steps to follow when writing a summary of a text?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@KyanTheDoodle

OpenStudy (irrati0nal):

Think about what a summary is. Summaries summarize the ideas throughout the whole text. The very first thing to do when writing a summary is to restate the thesis (or main idea) of the article. Can you guess what would come next in the summary?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what are the other steps?

@Irrati0nal

This site should help, they word it better than I can haha: http://www.wikihow.com/Write-a-Conclusion

You're welcome. Let me know if you need anything else.

3. The first sentence of a summary should always include what two items?

OpenStudy (irrati0nal):

As the site that I linked you and also from what I told you, the first sentence should start with a statement such as "Ultimately," and it should also restate the main idea (thesis) of your article. For example, if I was writing about why chocolate ice cream is better than vanilla ice cream, I may conclude like this: "Ultimately, chocolate ice cream is better than vanilla ice cream. Various studies have concluded that more than half of the population favor chocolate ice cream over vanilla ice cream."

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok and the other one?

OpenStudy (irrati0nal):

See what my first sentence does there? It includes a good starting conclusive statement, "Ultimately," then restates my thesis, which is "chocolate ice cream is better than vanilla."

OpenStudy (irrati0nal):

I just told you what both of the things are. Key words: "First" and "then."

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay

4. How can two authors of non-fiction express similar opinions in different ways?

OpenStudy (irrati0nal):

Good starting conclusive statement and restating the thesis. Those are the two.

OpenStudy (irrati0nal):

Please post your new question in a separate thread.

ok
