OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which expression is equivalent to 8x − 2x + 4 and why? 4 + 6x, because (8x − 2x) + 4 = 6x + 4 = 4 + 6x 10x, because 8x − 2x + 4 = 6x + 4 = 10x 8x + 2x, because 8x − (2x − 4) = 8x + 2x 14x, because 8x − 2x + 4 = 8x + 6x = 14x

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@AloneS what explain a bit easier

OpenStudy (jeff666):

Subtract the 2x from the 8x since its -2x and a positive 8x so you would get 6x +4 since you still have the positive 4 at the end

OpenStudy (study312):

8x and 2x are like terms because the both have x. However, 8x and 2y and not like terms because they both don't have x.
