OpenStudy (nopeforce):

Given f(x) = –5x + 1, what is f(–2)?

OpenStudy (nopeforce):

im really confused

OpenStudy (ineedhelplz):

replace every x by -2 -5(-2) + 1

OpenStudy (fortytherapper):

See how it say's f(x), and a -5(x)+1 So instead of f(x), it says f(-2), so how would you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-5(-2)+1 = 11

OpenStudy (fortytherapper):

That too

OpenStudy (ineedhelplz):

Think about it this way :) you put a number in a box and you get negative 5 times the number and 1 added to it. Similarly, you'll get negative 5 times -2 and then 1 added to it :)

OpenStudy (ineedhelplz):

\[\color{Black}{\Rightarrow \textbf{if} f(x) = -5x + 1 \Rightarrow \textbf{then } f(-2) = -5(-2) + 1 }\]
