I will medal, no direct answers. Find the area of grass in this home landscape diagram. (image below) 13,300 sq. ft. 13,900 sq. ft. 15,000 sq. ft.

OpenStudy (sagewilson):

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Just to make sure, is the grass the pinkish area?

OpenStudy (sagewilson):

Yes

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Okay, first let's find the area of the entire landscape. Do you know how to get the area of a rectangle?

OpenStudy (sagewilson):

Yes, Base * Length.

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Good, so for the entire landscape, we have 100*150 15000

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

It looks like on the left there's a 10x20 sidewalk, so we need to take that out of the area

OpenStudy (sagewilson):

Okay

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

So the area of the sidewalk (or whatever that is) is 200, so we need to take that out of 15000

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

That leaves 14800ft\(^2\). Are you following what I'm doing so far?

OpenStudy (sagewilson):

So 14,800?

OpenStudy (sagewilson):

Yes I am following.

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Okay, we're almost there, 2 more things :) There's a block (of who knows what) by the sidewalk that's 30x40. Can you figure that out?

OpenStudy (sagewilson):

That would be 1200 so 14,800 = 1,200 would leave me with 13,800.

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

1200 is correct, I think there's a little typo in the 13800 though, that should be 13,\(\bf 6\)00

OpenStudy (sagewilson):

Yeah I just realized my mistake.

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

It's fine :) We all make mistakes

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

The last block of something is 15x20, subtract that out of 13,600 and we get the answer :)

OpenStudy (sagewilson):

13,300.

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Yep :)

OpenStudy (sagewilson):

Thank you for your help. @sleepyjess do you think you can help another user @stuck-help I tried but I don't quite understand what it is I have to do, maybe he or she will have better luck with you.

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

I can certainly try, could you tag me on the post?

OpenStudy (sagewilson):

Okay.
