General Partial Fraction Question: When you're doing partial fractions and have say, As+D/(x^2+1) + Cs+D/(x^2+4) = 4s+8, You cross multiply and get all those terms, then you look at the coefficients and like powers to generate equations. What if instead of 4s+8, we had e^(pi*-s)+1. Does that count as a power of s, or is that a constant? We have positive powers of s on the left side, but what is that power?

OpenStudy (phi):

if you have an exponential on the right side, I don't think you can do partial fractions
