RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

The sharing or transferring of outer valence electrons between atoms results in a chemical bond. TRUE FALSE @Sweetburger

RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

False?

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

True. Examples of valence electrons being transferred is NaCl. The Na loses an electron which in results is transferred to the Cl. This is a result of the massive difference of EN. Examples of valence electrons being shared is in CO2. The Carbon and one of the external oxygens share the electrons somewhere in between the two atoms. The electrons are not exchange in this situation. This results from the closely similar EN of C and O.
