Hi! I'm having trouble with my grades in English currently and if anyone in 8th grade or higher could give me tips on what to do to get them higher that would be amazing! I'm having trouble comprehending what I'm reading and it takes me a few tries to understand it. Please help. Thank you!
Oh cool I'm in 8th grade, I can help you out.
i can help you
Although this information is pretty vague, if you give me a little bit more, I could probably help you better.
This always happened to me as well. I personally would go on YouTube and listen to the audio or would watch clips and such to help me comprehend. I would also try to figure out who the characters were in the current chapter I'm reading.
It never made sense in the beginning for me, so I was always forced to read ahead. You don't have to reread the chapter repetitively just to comprehend what you're reading, because sometimes you have to read a few more chapters ahead to realize what they were talking about. it just depends how the story it written.
I can tell you think to do and to also read
Also, there are quizzes on quizlet that you can study from. You can type in the book name in google and search chapter 1-3 for example and type "quizlet" afterwards to get results. So, it would look like "Book name 1-3 quizlet"
I'm reading 451 but it's not just that its just reading in general. Comprehension is really confusing me.
fahrenheit 451?
If so, I can help you with any questions you have.
yes
I have to finish the book by Monday or Tuesday (I forgot which) I'm having trouble understanding the symbolism in the book if anyone understands what the Salamander symbolizes please tell me thank you!!!
CAN YOU SHOW ME THE SYMBOL
I can't it's in a book. But I can't comprehend what the Salamander symbolizes.
That is very ironic because the people in the book do not like reading very much either, in fact its about a fireman who burns books.
The salamander is one of the official symbols of the firemen, as well as the name they give to their fire trucks.
I'm pretty sure people thought salamanders were born of fire, and could survive fire.
I googled to make sure I was correct and here is what I found: “The Hearth and the Salamander” Bradbury uses this conjunction of images as the title of the first part of Fahrenheit 451. The hearth, or fireplace, is a traditional symbol of the home; Also, is a symbol of the firemen. Both of these symbols have to do with fire, the dominant image of Montag’s life—the hearth because it contains the fire that heats a home, and the salamander because of ancient beliefs that it lives in fire and is unaffected by flames.
