OpenStudy (mimiii3):

Which equation is a direct variation? y = 2x - 3 y + x = -3 y = 0.02x

OpenStudy (mrhirohito):

Direct Variation. Since k is constant (the same for every point), we can find k when given any point by dividing the y-coordinate by the x-coordinate. For example, if y varies directly as x , and y = 6 when x = 2 , the constant of variation is k = = 3 . Thus, the equation describing this direct variation is y = 3x . Just explaining..Not a real answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

When two variables are related in such a way that the ratio of their values always remains the same, the two variables are said to be in direct variation in this question y=0.02x gives the direct variation because by putting any value of x it will give a same multiple of 0.02.
