Do you add or subtract logs together So the question I'm trying to solve is f(x)=log4(2x-6) and g(x)=log4(x-3) what is f(x)-g(x) So do you get rid of the log and if it was f(x)+g(x) would log be log8? Pls help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Or would it be log4 2 I'm so confused

OpenStudy (mathmale):

If you find the log of a PRODUCT, such as log a*b, add log a and log b. If you find the log of a QUOTIENT, such as log a/b, subtract log b from log a.

It's really worth the effort to learn how to express logs in bases other than 10 properly. log4 2 is incorrect; it should be expressed in one of the three following formats:\[\log_{4} 2\]

OpenStudy (mathmale):

(log to the base 4 of) 2
