Can someone please show me the steps to this question? Please Solve -6 – x > 7

OpenStudy (greatlife44):

Well this is an inequality, we would need to first isolate x. how do you think we can do this? -6-x > 7

OpenStudy (abbycross167):

-x>6-7? like this?

OpenStudy (greatlife44):

We can also do this. we can add 6 to both sides. to get 13. then we get -x > 13 -x > 13 -1 -1 What we do now is simple. we divide both sides by -1 and If I remember correctly, whenever you divide by a negative number you need to switch the sign of the inequality x < 13

OpenStudy (abbycross167):

So when I add 6 to both sides it'll look like this -6+6 – x > 7+6?

OpenStudy (abbycross167):

@greatlife44

OpenStudy (greatlife44):

@abbycross167 yes.
