Blonde hair is recessive and brown is dominant, what is the phenotype for a heterozygous individual? * A.) Blonde B.) Brown I am thinking A.)

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Why A?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because recessive is like phenotype?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im sorry, i am bad at explaining these things...

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Remember, you need two recessives for the trait to show physically. Like, you can have the genotype for blonde hair, but it doesn't show. Because, no other recessive mark is present, therefore the dominate overtakes it. Hertyzygous means 2 different alleles, so it can't be a recessive, most likely dominate. Remember, geno is what you have. pheno is what you can see.

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

or, say for instance. I have black hair, but I also have a genotype for brown. So.. Why does only black physically show?
