This is more science than English but its writing so here it is, Write a short story detailing the journey of a grain of sediment that has been weathered from a mountain. Use the following words; weathering, erosion, and deposition). Use only the attached notes and the brainpop on weathering.

OpenStudy (dukelaxfan):

My mistake, not just the notes

OpenStudy (dukelaxfan):

@mathmale

OpenStudy (mathmale):

You have done very well in looking up these terms and writing down definitions / notes. The assignment asks that you write an imaginary or partially imaginary story about a grain of sediment that travels down a mountain due to wind, weather and the pull of gravity. You're to explain some of the experiences this grain would "enjoy" on its way down.

OpenStudy (dukelaxfan):

I'm looking for a theme, my teacher's example was a break up so I dont really want to use that

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Sounds to me that y ou're limited to using the "brainpop" (whatever that is) and the notes you yourself attached to this post. Are you wondering whether you should come up with your own theme or not? It'd seem to me that in that case you'd need a different set of notes / definitions.

OpenStudy (dukelaxfan):

Well i just cant think of the "base" so to say. Like I said, unless i can think of a very good break up, im not sure what to use

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Glad you are clarifying this. Would it be possible to clarify it directly with your teacher?

OpenStudy (dukelaxfan):

What do you mean

OpenStudy (mathmale):

You seem to be unsure whether you should compose a story based on the given theme or to invent a new one. From your initial post I'd guess writing a story using the current theme is the way to go.

OpenStudy (dukelaxfan):

No, it was just an example

OpenStudy (dukelaxfan):

That is assured

OpenStudy (mathmale):

What specifically could I do to help you? I'd suggest you pick a topic about which you're interested and very well informed.

OpenStudy (dukelaxfan):

I need the topic pretty much, im a decent writer, i just dont know what to write about

OpenStudy (mathmale):

That's not something I can help you much with, as I don't know you or your interests or experiences.

OpenStudy (dukelaxfan):

well it has to do with the grain of sediment and etc. but i dont know if i should write a fiction or non-fiction story based on that. I think it would be easier to write non-fiction now that i think about it

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Agreed, or a mixture of fict & non-fict ... You're supposed to use facts from the notes; that'd constitute the non-fict part. As for the fict. part, you'd need to imagine the thoughts and feelings of the bit of sediment as it gets transported downslope by the forces of nature and takes interest in the lovely geological formations it "sees" on the way down.

OpenStudy (dukelaxfan):

I don't want to plagiarize,but, I don't know how I should start it off.

OpenStudy (dukelaxfan):

How about this; As I'm blown away from my home, I see the vast mountains around me. If you haven't guessed it yet, I'm a grain of sediment. My home was weathered down until everything around me looked similar to me.

OpenStudy (dukelaxfan):

the last sentence needs to be fixed I can tell now, but its a start

OpenStudy (mathmale):

You're quite a lot more imaginative than I. Get something down on paper, fast, and then go back and fix it up so your writing has just the degree of imagination or seriousness that you want it to have for this assignment. Using the notes is req'd, so that's not plagiarism.

OpenStudy (dukelaxfan):

Ok, thank you for your help.

OpenStudy (mathmale):

My grezt pleasure... best wishes and good luck to you.

OpenStudy (dukelaxfan):

Thank you

OpenStudy (mathmale):

;)
