OpenStudy (welshfella):

use the distance formula if the 2 points are (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) the formula is sqrt [ {y2 - y1)^2 + (x2-x1)^2 ]

OpenStudy (truwhovian11):

???????

OpenStudy (welshfella):

let x1 = 1 , y1 = 7 , x2 = 7 and y2 = 7) ( thats the points in the question) Plug these values into the formula and work it out.

OpenStudy (pinkcandyrosez882):

Would simply subtracting 1 from 7 work as it is the distance a point moved? (Like it started at 1,7 and ended at 7,7) Sorry if I'm misunderstanding this

OpenStudy (welshfella):

No - what we are doing is making the straight line between the 2 points the hypotenuse of a right angled triangle then using the pythagoras theorem.

OpenStudy (pinkcandyrosez882):

Oh okay. Sorry about that!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Both points have the same y value, 7. Therefore the line is parallel to the x axis and is 7 - 1 or 6 units in length.

OpenStudy (truwhovian11):

thanks i have a few more i already answerd haph of them already

OpenStudy (welshfella):

Yes Of course|dw:1457389232974:dw|
