Can someone please show me the steps to this question? Please Mr. Dunbar's math class averaged poorly on a test, so he gave them a retest. If every person in the class scored 5 points higher on the retest, how would the RANGE of the retest scores differ from the RANGE of the scores on the first test?

OpenStudy (abbycross167):

@MissSmartiez could you please help me?

OpenStudy (phi):

do you know what the range means ?

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

'every person in the class scored 5 points higher on the retest, '

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

'Mr. Dunbar's math class averaged poorly on a test, '

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Connect the dots.

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

They scored poorly on what? What points did they gain in the retest? What is the range?

OpenStudy (abbycross167):

So the range on the retest would be 5 points higher.

OpenStudy (phi):

in statistics , the range is the difference between the max and the min (is that what we are doing here?) if so, max+5 - (min +5) = max - min (i.e. the original range)
