I don't know if i subtract from the amount of gallons or if i keep it at what its at (the problem will be in the comments)
Martha, Brett, and Mike are competing in a cooking competition. They all used different amounts of oil from a can containing 8 gallons of oil. Martha used 17% of the total oil in the can. Brett used 0.18 of the total oil in the can. Mike used 0.7 gallon of the total oil in the can. Who used the greatest amount of oil from the can? Show your work and explain your answer in words.

Martha: 17% ~ 17% = 0.17. 0.17 x 8 = 1.36. Martha took 1.36 gallons of oil Brett: 0.18 ~ 0.18 (dose not need to be simplified) 0.18 x 8 = 1.44. Brett took 1.44 gallons of oil. Mike: 0.7 ~ 0.7 (does not need to be simplified) 0.7 x 8 = 5.6. Mike took 5.6 gallons of oil.
Mike used 0.7 gallon of the total oil in the can. That line you calculated is wrong.
They tell you how much he used, no need to multiply anything.
