WILL FAN AND MEDAL. I NEED HELP TO FIGURE THIS OUT

OpenStudy (cryleeb):

Consider the following equations: –x – y = 1 y = x + 3 If the two equations are graphed, at what point do the lines representing the two equations intersect? (4 points) Select one: a. (–1, 2) b. (–2, 1) c. (1, –2) d. (2, –1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just insert the bottom equation into the to one -x-(x+3)=1 solving this gives x=-2 inserting this in the second equation gives y=-2+3=1 so the point is (-2,1)

OpenStudy (cryleeb):

thanks so much!

OpenStudy (cryleeb):

@bts30 do you think you can help me with one more thing?

OpenStudy (cryleeb):

y = –2x + 8 y = x – 1 I have to solve using substitution but I'm not sure how to if they are both in slope-intercept form.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you just do the same thing as before inserting the bottom equation into the top one

OpenStudy (cryleeb):

i dont get how to insert the bottom equation into the top if they are both in y-intercept form though?

OpenStudy (cryleeb):

i know how to do it that way, basically my question is how do I solve for x in: y=x -1
