can someone tell me if my answer is correct?

OpenStudy (joehoffy):

How many solutions can be found for the equation 4x = 4x? Zero One Two Infinitely many

OpenStudy (joehoffy):

at first i chose One, it was wrong now i think it is Zero.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it's infinite. Since x can be anything for 4x = 4x to be true.

OpenStudy (joehoffy):

are u sure?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think so.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Try three different numbers for x. If all three work, then the answer must be infinite. Let x = 1: 4(1) = 4(1) 4 = 4 x = 1 works Now do the same for two other values of x.

OpenStudy (joehoffy):

x=7 4(7) = 4(7) oohhh. yeah its infinite then.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Think of 4x = 4x means. x is a variable that stands for an number. In this case the left side is 4 times a number. The right side is exactly the same, 4 times the same number. Since the same variable x is used on both sides, the variable represents the same number. For every number, 4 times the number is always equal to 4 times the same number, so this equation is true for all numbers.
