Which sentence contains an infinitive or infinitive phrase? A. Help me find your little sister's other shoe, please. B. Bookmark your favorite sites, and you can go back to them. C. Will you take the playbook back to Coach Wilson? D. To everyone at home, we sent our greetings from Canada.

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

@Daniee_Bruhh @Awolflover1 @Englishguy @HannahA

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

i think its B

Awolflover1 (awolflover1):

I agree :)

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

what do you think @Daniee_Bruhh

OpenStudy (hannaha):

Yeppers guys, it's B ;)

OpenStudy (daniee_bruhh):

Hmm.. I think it's D... Because of this. http://www.chompchomp.com/terms/infinitivephrase.htm

OpenStudy (hannaha):

but the verb in D isn't with the "to" "to everyone" isn't a verb

OpenStudy (hannaha):

@sleepyjess @pooja195

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

yeah thats what i was confused on, but "them" isnt a verb either

OpenStudy (daniee_bruhh):

I still think it's D though because to is a verb. You're sending the cards to the family. So To me To is a "verb" in this sentence.

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

@Daniee_Bruhh but in an infinitive the verb comes after the word "to" not "to" is the verb

OpenStudy (hannaha):

now we're at a loss :D none of these have verbs after "to"

OpenStudy (daniee_bruhh):

lol That's what I mean. I just didn't know what to call it. every Infinitive phrase starts with to. To isn't the verb but it has a verb following it (in a way) so basically even though there isn't a verb after to we can assume that the verb sent is related to to because who did you SEND the cards TO? To Them. so that's my case lol

OpenStudy (hannaha):

the only one I can vouch for so far is C. "go back to" I don't know but it seems like the only one in which the verb "go" is combined with "to"

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

But @Daniee_Bruhh isnt B the same? "you can go back to them" isnt that implying you can go back to them, which is a verb as well

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

B also works for what @HannahA said "to" is combined with "go back"

OpenStudy (hannaha):

so best case for B?

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

hold on my book says "sometimes to is omitted when an infinitive follows such verbs as , dare, feel, help, hear, let , etc. " so what about A?

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

i feel like after reading that A makes the most sense but what do you guys think? @Daniee_Bruhh @HannahA @Awolflover1

OpenStudy (daniee_bruhh):

Hmm I guess I agree with A after reading what you wrote lol

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

i figured it makes the most sense , since the other ones dont have a verb after them

OpenStudy (hannaha):

true....

OpenStudy (hannaha):

i guess A then

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

alright thank you @HannahA and @Daniee_Bruhh soo much :D

OpenStudy (daniee_bruhh):

No Problem love! I hope you get it right since this was confusing XD ^^

OpenStudy (hannaha):

Haha you're welcome, ^ i hope it's correct!

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

It was correct! thank you guys! i got 90%! i passed

OpenStudy (hannaha):

YYYYYYYEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

OpenStudy (hannaha):

OpenStudy (mysticfury):
