OpenStudy (anonymous):

start by deciding which trig function you want to use.

OpenStudy (ilovebmth1234):

idk

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know what the trig functions are?

OpenStudy (ilovebmth1234):

not really im bad at stuff like this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, you can remember the trig functions by remembering SOH CAH TOA

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sin(x)=opposite side/hypotenuse, cos(x)=adjacent side/hypotenuse, tan(x)=opposite/adjacent

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because the problem gave you all sides, you can really use any function you want

OpenStudy (ilovebmth1234):

but will they give me one of these answers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

As long as you're plugging in the numbers correctly, any of the 3 trig functions will give you the value for b. Try using sine. Sin (B) = Opposite/hyptenuse

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What's the length of the side opposite angle B? What's the length of the hypotenuse?

OpenStudy (ilovebmth1234):

hypotenuse: 13

OpenStudy (ilovebmth1234):

opposite: 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

great, so now plug it in....sin (B)=5/13

OpenStudy (anonymous):

on your calculator you should have a button that looks like sin^-1

OpenStudy (ilovebmth1234):

so how would i type this in?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

depends...what type of calculator are you using?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

http://web2.0calc.com/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's an online calculator that has trig functions.

OpenStudy (ilovebmth1234):

okay if i use that how would i put it in lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

start with 5/13....don't clear it out

OpenStudy (ilovebmth1234):

okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then hit 2nd, sin...when you hit 2nd the sin key changes to asin

OpenStudy (ilovebmth1234):

okay click that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it should automatically pull up your answer to 5/13...hit = and you're done.

OpenStudy (ilovebmth1234):

22.61....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correct

OpenStudy (ilovebmth1234):

thanks :D mind helpin with one more?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can try
