Josh bought some cases of water. Each case has 12 water bottles. Which equation shows how many bottles of water Josh bought? Use t to represent the total number of water bottles, and c to represent the number of cases bought. A. t = B. t = c – 12 C. t = c + 12 D. t = 12c

OpenStudy (mathwizzard3):

What do you think?

OpenStudy (mathwizzard3):

@Moji7029 ?

OpenStudy (moji7029):

MMM

OpenStudy (moji7029):

I think B but i'm still not that sure :/

OpenStudy (mathwizzard3):

No!

OpenStudy (moji7029):

D

OpenStudy (mathwizzard3):

Lets say we have 4 cases of water bottles.....what would you do to figure out how many there were if you had 12 in each case?

OpenStudy (moji7029):

by dividing

OpenStudy (mathwizzard3):

Okay we have 4 cases|dw:1458324178275:dw| Lets say they all look the same size

OpenStudy (mathwizzard3):

Now there are 12 in each.......|dw:1458324228724:dw| why would you divide?

OpenStudy (mathwizzard3):

How many are there in total........add 12 and 12 and 12 and 12 or you could ____ instead of adding? (fill in the blank)

OpenStudy (mathwizzard3):

@Moji7029 ?

OpenStudy (moji7029):

I divide to put 12 into 4 cases.

OpenStudy (mathwizzard3):

No! You would multiply to get the total

OpenStudy (mathwizzard3):

So 4 times 12 is how many bottles you have in total

OpenStudy (mathwizzard3):

now if you replace 4 with c it would be c times 12 which would, like you said, lead you to the nswer of D

OpenStudy (mathwizzard3):

Hope that helps!
