Circle problem

OpenStudy (sbuck98):

@xavier123

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Tell me your approach to this problem ...

OpenStudy (daniel.ohearn1):

Does WZ half the circle?

OpenStudy (sbuck98):

I have no idea, at all. I just started this so I was going to do some practice problems until I figure it out.

OpenStudy (daniel.ohearn1):

If WZ bisects the circle I could see how you may get the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

from the attachment it looks as if WZ is the diameter to the circle... If that assumption is correct then <YPZ = 180-(25+85) = 70

OpenStudy (daniel.ohearn1):

They should really provide a little more info other then the picture but we can assume that WZ does get close to bisecting it..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

will that help in figuring out the rest of the solution ?

OpenStudy (sbuck98):

I don't know how to get the rest of it.

OpenStudy (daniel.ohearn1):

So there are 180 degrees in half a circle (also refered to as a semicircle)

OpenStudy (sbuck98):

so I do 180-70?

OpenStudy (daniel.ohearn1):

If you assume BZ is the diameter you know the three interior angles will add up to 180 degrees

OpenStudy (daniel.ohearn1):

So what do you know about the third interior angle?

OpenStudy (sbuck98):

Not sure:/

OpenStudy (daniel.ohearn1):

25 degrees + 85 degrees + x degrees = 180 degrees

OpenStudy (sbuck98):

70

OpenStudy (daniel.ohearn1):

right so now its asking for angle XZ and that will include that 70 degrees and the 85 degree angle referring to our circle right?

OpenStudy (sbuck98):

yes

OpenStudy (sbuck98):

I added them and got 155

OpenStudy (sbuck98):

@daniel.ohearn1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think its correct

OpenStudy (daniel.ohearn1):

So you got it, good job!
