OpenStudy (barrera1):

A jar contained 18 red marbles, 14 green marbles, and 20 blue marbles. A marble was selected at random, the color was recorded, and the marble was placed back in the jar. The table shows the results after 60 trials. What was the relative frequency of selecting a blue marble? Round to the nearest percent, if necessary. Outcome Red Green Blue Number of trials 22 18 20

OpenStudy (barrera1):

@Aveline could you help me with this last one?

OpenStudy (aveline):

Out of 60 trials, the blue marble was selected 20 times. How do we write this in relative frequency?

OpenStudy (barrera1):

I do not know

OpenStudy (aveline):

@Barrera1 Relative frequency is just like regular probability, but we convert it into a percent. The chance of choosing a blue marble is 20/60, or 1/3. Can you write that as a percent?

OpenStudy (barrera1):

20/60 or 1/3

OpenStudy (barrera1):

@Aveline

OpenStudy (aveline):

@Barrera1 Those are fractions. 1/3 as a percent is 33.33...% If you're rounding to the nearest percent, it is 33%

OpenStudy (barrera1):

oh ok i see so 33% is the answer then right? @Aveline

OpenStudy (aveline):

Yes!

OpenStudy (barrera1):

ok thanks so much!!
