To find the scale factor, you must divide to similar lengths in both of the triangles. The 3 on the smaller triangle is similar to the 9 on the bigger triangle. If you divide those two numbers together, you should get the scale factor.

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Wow; he put it in a great way :) ^ And yes, the scale factor is _. The difference between 3 and 9, and 6 and 18? In other words, 3 _ _ = 9 6 _ _ = 18.

OpenStudy (shaleiah):

3:3? :)

OpenStudy (seratul):

You are correct, but no reason to put it into a ratio. It should just be 3.

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Correct, basically, it is 3, only. No concept to use it in ratio form. ^

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Missing length, 3.

OpenStudy (shaleiah):

Thank you, Everyone!

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Oh I see, it said the scale factor (small): to big

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

So, yes, might want to construct it to ratio form!
