= 0 2 undefined

OpenStudy (countrygirl1431):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[0!=1\]by definition

OpenStudy (countrygirl1431):

i dont get it

OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

See.. we define a factorial (that sign -> !) as follows: n! = n * (n-1) * (n-2) * ... * 3 * 2 * 1 Now, there are some properties for factorials one of them being -> 0! = 1

OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

Now, let's start by evaluating 2!, we know that for factorial we just multiply all numbers less than or equal to the original number till we reach one... That means... 2! = 2 * 1

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Countrygirl: Here, as elsewhere in math, you'll need to learn basic rules and definitions, such as the fact that 0! = 1, which here leads to the conclusion that 2! -- 0! is defined (not undefined, as you might have expected from a zero in the denominator). If y ou "don't get it," could you possibly phrase and ask some questions that the rest of us could perhaps answer for you?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

2! = ? (see Vish' comment, above) 0! = 1 (see various comments above). Then, 2! --- = what? 0!
