A square is a rhombus. MATH medal

OpenStudy (jgkg13):

OpenStudy (knov):

it's a parallellogram.

OpenStudy (jgkg13):

did u seen pic

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its a parallelagram

OpenStudy (knov):

is what i have seen

OpenStudy (kelsey.benton00):

A quadrilateral is any figure with four sides. It's definitely a parallelogram. Polygon: Typically with five or more sides. ^ Does that definition fit the picture?

OpenStudy (jgkg13):

it has a b c d not just 1 word

OpenStudy (jgkg13):

Which statement is sometimes, but not always, true?

OpenStudy (kelsey.benton00):

Actually I take that back, because a polygon is a figure with at least three straight sides. A rhombus, however, is defined by having four equal sides, and opposite angles. So does thAT definition fit the picture?

OpenStudy (jgkg13):

OpenStudy (jgkg13):

look

OpenStudy (kelsey.benton00):

Ooh gotcha. Then yeah, your answer is right :p

OpenStudy (jgkg13):

how though if its said not allways true

OpenStudy (kelsey.benton00):

Ok hold on lemme think about this for a sec.

OpenStudy (jgkg13):

ok

OpenStudy (kelsey.benton00):

Oh I see, okay. So the first three statements will always be true. A rectangle will always be a parallelogram, by definition of the shape, and a square will always be a rhombus, by definition of a rhombus, which I gave earlier. And a rhombus will also always be a parallelogram. However, while a rectangle can be a square, as long as it has four equal sides, it will never always be a square, because to be a rectangle, a shape only has to have four right angles. A square has to have four equal sides, which a rectangle doesn't always have. Do you understand?

OpenStudy (jgkg13):

sonis it a b c d

OpenStudy (kelsey.benton00):

Sorry, what?

OpenStudy (kelsey.benton00):

The answer would be D. but do you understand why?
