PLEASE HELP DONT WANNA FAIL !!!!!!!!!! Explain the difference between using the trigonometric ratios (sin, cos, tan) to solve for a missing angle in a right triangle versus using the reciprocal ratios (sec, csc, cot). You must use complete sentences and any evidence needed (such as an example) to prove your point of view.

anything?

OpenStudy (jadeishere):

So http://www.cimt.plymouth.ac.uk/projects/mepres/step-up/sect4/ratbig.gif Looking at the picture, what do you see?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

numbers and letters.... Tbh I'm so damn confused with this subject idk the first step I'm so lost

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dyslexia makes this hard

OpenStudy (jadeishere):

Lol okay. Sin is the trigonometric function that uses a right triangle [triangle with an angle equivalent to 90 degrees] |dw:1458755084412:dw| and it divides the opposite side length by the hypotenuse length and is set equal to the sin of the angle. the would look like this; \[\sin0=\frac{ opposite }{ hypotenuse }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay and that is the trig part?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is a reciprocal ratio i don't remember that in my lesson

OpenStudy (jadeishere):

It's basically an inverse ratio of the sin, tan and cos

OpenStudy (jadeishere):

But i want to make sure you understand sin, cos and tan, because to understand the reciprocal ratios, you have to know how to find them. So I only explained the sin, you want to know about the tan and cos, or do you think you can figure it out from the picture..?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know hoe sin works i believe isn't it sin- opp / hypo cos- adj / hypo tan- Opp / adj

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how*

OpenStudy (jadeishere):

Yep, that's exactly it :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have too write too explain the difference idk how too do that @Jadeishere

OpenStudy (jadeishere):

Okay, so the difference is how you solve them While sin uses the opposite over the hypotenuse, what does cos use?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

adj over hypo

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i would just say the difference is how u solve them? that would be the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Jadeishere

OpenStudy (jadeishere):

Sorry I was helping someone else at the same time. Your prompt was to explain the difference using complete sentences, right? So explain how you solve sin cos and tan, and I suggest using 1-2 sentences for each, using the words [opposite side, hypotenuse, adjacent side, over, equal to, sin, cos, tan, angle]

I'm honestly so lost I'm sorry guys

OpenStudy (jadeishere):

I can explain it in simpler terms... Lol i'm sorry. In college they make me use fancy words

please :/
