What does "nailed it" mean? When is it used?

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Context clues: I sweated in anxiety; my hands fumbled nervously around. I always struggled at this genre of school subjects. I would always fail. Not today! I studied harder than I ever had before. So, why am I nervous? "Alright class," Mrs. Andrews called, " Time to hand out graded papers!" I bit my lip as she made her way over to my desk. She stared at me. A warm smiled appeared on her lips. "Great job, Amy." She revealed a A+ on my paper. "NAILED IT!"

it means yes I was right

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

As my paragraph conveyed, what does Amy mean when she calls out 'nailed it'?

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

It is a metaphor for I have it in a bag, or you have succeeded in something you worked hard on doing, or would liked to do.

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

A mood that is usually used in is, happiness, maybe relief, smugness? As to what the openstudier said, it could be transferred in, I WAS CORRECT ALL ALONG! I GOT IT RIGHT!

Thank you very much.

OpenStudy (needhelpwithk12):

it means you got it directly right like you were throwing a ball for a contest at a target and you hit it dead center so then you would say nailed it!!!
