Help finding value of angles. I forgot how to do it *~*

OpenStudy (i_need_help_please):

I need to find angle 1,2 and 3. If i have 1 and two i can find 3.

OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

Notice these teeny tiny lines.. ?|dw:1458832701543:dw| Can you tell me what they mean?

OpenStudy (i_need_help_please):

i thought it meant that the sides were congruent but apparently not..

OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

That means that the sides having that symbol are equal... So, AB = BC

OpenStudy (i_need_help_please):

oh yeah okay im right.. in the picture you drew they werent congruent so it messed me up... i know how to do this question ive done it before i just forgot could you just tell me the formula im good in math i dont need a long explanation.

OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

|dw:1458832869673:dw| Okay so first thing first... 1. Angles opposite to equal sides are equal 2. Sum of all angles of triangle = 180 This will give you angle BAC = angle BCA

OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

and then using point 2 you can find the angles

OpenStudy (i_need_help_please):

i know all of this i just need the formula.. i forgot the formula. i know everything else i know than angle 1 and 3 are congruent by alternate interior angles theorem i just need the formula

OpenStudy (i_need_help_please):

hold up.. is 2 and 3 congruent or 1 and 3?

OpenStudy (i_need_help_please):

if 1 and 3 is congruent then this is really simple and i feel dumb for asking for help but 2 and 3 needs a formula.

OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

Actually both are congruent i.e. 1 and 3; 2 and 3; 2 and 4; 1 and 4

OpenStudy (i_need_help_please):

okay. yeah i got it.

OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

Can you solve the problem now?

OpenStudy (i_need_help_please):

all the angles are 32

OpenStudy (i_need_help_please):

i knew all of this i just got mixed up and thought it was more complicated than it was

OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

Great! The answer is correct... And yeah that happens with me as well sometimes :)

OpenStudy (i_need_help_please):

can you help me with this one?

OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

You are given that LM = 1/2 (AB+DC)

OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

You know the value of AB, LM and DC.. just plug in the values and solve for x...

OpenStudy (i_need_help_please):

yeah give me a second im going to try

OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

Sure

OpenStudy (i_need_help_please):

i can plug it in fine. its when i have to solve it i get confused on what to do first

OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

Okay tell me what you have got so far

OpenStudy (i_need_help_please):

is x=7?

OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

Perfect!!

OpenStudy (i_need_help_please):

okay thanks

OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

:) Your welcome
