question (logical reasoning) The following questions are based on island gootargoo

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

i think its d.)

rishavraj (rishavraj):

C looks beter than D

rishavraj (rishavraj):

*better

what does interdiminate means >

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Assume Suyash is type Y `Suyash says "I am type Y"`. If Suyash is indeed type Y, then Suyash is lying. So that means Suyash is type X. But we have a problem. If Suyash is type X, then this person cannot lie. If this person was type X, then they would have to say they are type X. This assumption that Suyash is type Y leads to a contradiction. Assume Suyash is type X if Suyash is type X, then Suyash can't lie. Suyash lies though when this person says they are type Y. So this leads to a contradiction. It is impossible to determine what type of person (either X or Y) Suyash is. Consequently, this means Divyansh is also impossible to figure out too. So I'd say either (c) Indeterminate or (d) None of these. I'm not sure which is more appropriate

rishavraj (rishavraj):

@mathmath333 Indeterminate - not precise/ambiguous nature

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yeah I agree. Indeterminate is probably the proper answer

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

does option c.) means both cases are possible

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

ok thnks

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

no it just means that it's impossible to figure out. Like @rishavraj is saying: it's unclear and ambiguous

imqwerty (imqwerty):

the question seems wrong as the statement is not according to the question because if you assume Suyash to be X or Y then half of the statement is correct and other half is not. so basically Suyash does not belong to that particular island we use indeterminate when the given info is not sufficient and i think that lets just say that suyash is not an inhabitant of that island because his statement proves that he is neither X nor Y and thus we donno any thing about divyansh so he can be either X or Y or maybe not an inhabitat of that island so here the info is less and i'd go with C but i can definitely say that answer is not A
