So the recording is pretty amateur, but I'm kind of just throwing this out there for some feedback :p (part of an) Acoustic Cover of Jealous ~ Labrinth Be critical ~ http://vocaroo.com/delete/s1P4BV19lYgQ/a9b06fc165ab3c7c
Well I am no pro or anything but i think it was pretty good!! Deffo saving it to my phone.Don't strike me with copyrights tho :P
i like it, kelsey! u just need to make ur voice project a lil more. its a little quiet. dont b afraid to sing out, girl! :)
its not bad :l
dynamics are great. jealous of your skills :)
This was super pleasant to listen to Kelsey. Honestly, I really haven't anything bad to say. You sounded super relaxed and confident and I like your voice a lot. :)
thank you so much (:
Your so welcome :)
Not bad do a drake song next lol
haha what do you suggest? @umerlodhi
Come thru by drake ;)
That was beautiful! Your voice is amazingly strong, but you were a little quiet compared to the music.
Just compared to what you have now. It's still lovely though.
thank you (:
You're very welcome.
I'm always very hesitant when I see something on vocaroo, but I can honestly say I really liked this. There is definite potential here. Honestly, I think the next step for you is to upgrade your equipment. The comments people were making were largely in part to your projecting and recording equipment. Live music is almost always louder than the singer which is why they invented microphones. I would suggest trying something like soundtrap.com It's a free service that allows you to use just about any type of microphone to try out recording. It's also a great way to listen to yourself and work on the sound you want to be sending out. In music, like in everything, there's always room for improvement. My main areas of critique are pitch, tone, and breath support ( Which all greatly affect each other) and you seem to to quite well in each area. Great job!
Thank you so much, your feedback honestly means the world, like that's legit what I was looking for in posting this (: As far as my sound equipment goes, I have a microphone and recording software, I just don't have a spike stand yet or anything similar that will adjust the microphone to where I need it to be. I recorded this with my camera as a video, simply for the sake of posting it and seeing if this is even anything worth pursuing. But I will look into improving the sound should I continue making covers :p thanks again.
Covers are great and I think it's where everyone should start just so they know what a song needs to consist of. Especially if there isn't a lot of background in music theory. After you get comfortable with covers, definitely write your own music. Just take my advice and don't way too long to start writing. You could even start writing now and just wait to develop the songs when you get a little more experience. My advice in the last comment really only applies if you intend to record your music. Otherwise I would start networking to see if you can start performing and get a good fan base. Openstudy is a great place to start but it's a bit too anonymous to see create any kind of substantial fan base. Eventually either you or the people who will listen to you will want to record your music. In this case make sure you look into the things necessary for a clean crisp sound. What kind of microphone do you have and recording software?
Well I got the microphone and software a while back from my grandparents, and I'm not sure what exactly to call it, as far as technical terms go, but the microphone says on the front "Samson" and underneath "CO1U USB Studio Condenser" and the software came along with it. It's quite good, as far as I know from my limited experience in messing around with it, and it gets good reviews. As far as writing music goes, I have written songs in the past, and I write quite a lot of poetry, I just sometimes lack the motivation to actually continue in writing a song, or sometimes the confidence just isn't there. I'm working on that, though :p If I start recording my music, as you predict will eventually happen, what do you suggest? YouTube?
Yeah, that is good. I suspect it's probably a small diaphragm condenser microphone which is probably what you want since you would be recording vocals and guitar. Make sure when you record to eliminate as much sound as possible (ie air conditioner, fans, loud lights, outdoor noise, etc.) This is a frequent mistake with those starting to record for the first time. I know exactly what you mean about writing songs. It can be mentally exhausting. I've honestly found the best results when I start with a melody rather than lyrics. It just seems to flow more easily. When you do record. It's up to you as to how you distribute it. I'm currently working on an album and have started distributing some music through my own website, reverbnation, soundcloud, and one song on itunes, google music, and spotify. I haven't gone to youtube yet but I probably will once the album is released. Youtube is good. The problem is that everyone uses it so it's difficult to get noticed. If you want to reach people through your music I think there's better ways, but that's just my opinion. p.s. sorry for all the long comments.
Haha that's okay, long comments are good (: What are some of the better ways you have in mind, as far as getting noticed goes?
Really, it's always best to start with the people you know. It's takes a bit of confidence but once you have stuff recorded, link everything to a facebook page and invite your friends and family to like your page. That's the best place to start, I think.
Great, I'll look into that. Again thank you soo much! (:
No worries. You're gonna be great. And if you're ever looking to collaborate let me know. Check out my music sometime and let me know what you think.
I like too I do music too
@kelsey.benton00 I love this. You are talented and just like Tanner said I hesitate to listen to people on vocaroo as well. You should definitely not be afraid to try new things with your voice and explore on more of what you can do. :) I say you should do a youtube page and start with covers and when you feel that you are ready then start to do your own music. :) Definitely share your voice with friends and family... you would be shocked on how much support you will get! :)) and if you do make a youtube page I'll definitely subscribe :)
Thank you, I appreciate that a lot (: I'll be sure to make it known if I do continue in this area of music-making :p again, thanks so much for your feedback.
No problem :)
It's was cool really
its good great job you carried yourself good :)
I agree @DrewGraff

No Problem :)

I agree :) I feel like music is my biggest escape. There is always a perfect song for me no matter what mood I am in and it makes me feel as if I am able to express myself and the way I feel.
