OpenStudy (maddy1251):

Is it set up -7/8 ____ -14/16 with options of ; <, >, = ?

OpenStudy (blu_seaa):

Yes, sorry I forgot to put that in.

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

That's okay! Well when we look at -7/8, it is in simplified form! However, -14/16 is not. Can you simpify that down? :)

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

Here's some help Divide the numerator and demoninator each by the number '2' because that is the great number that they share together (GCF)

OpenStudy (blu_seaa):

When I simplified it; the answer was -7/8, if that's correct.

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

That is correct! :) Sooo. -7/8 ____ -7/8 ; What is your answer?

OpenStudy (blu_seaa):

=

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

When we talk of the less than symbol, <, we mean n is less than (>) x ; e.g ; 2 < 3 (2 is less than 3) (Think of it as an L, all scrunched up) When we talk of the greater than symbol, >, we mean n is greater than x; e.g; 5 > 4 (The alligator is eating the bigger number) With the equal to sign, =, it simply means n = n e.g; 2= 2 Yes, you are correct, -7/8 is equal to, or =, to -7/8 :)

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

OOPS, I messed up my less than symbol above. In my first example. My apologies.

OpenStudy (blu_seaa):

It's fine, thank you for helping me. c:

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

You are most welcome. If you need any more help, just tag me in future posts. (-:
