Need help on earth crust, inner an outter core, and mantle

OpenStudy (helasi95):

Well, these are the 4 parts that compose Earth, they were discovered by using Geophysical Methods, specifically talking: Sismic. So, here we Go. 1. Crust: its the most Surficial Layer of Earth, its also the most thin layer of all and also the less dense (these layers were divided because of the density of its materials). Its thickness does not surpasses +/- 70 kms. 2. Mantle: the thickest layer of the planet, reaching almost 2900 kms of thinckness. It is composed by solid-plastic rock which can flow (something similar to chewed chewing gum), giving place to convective movement which transport Crustal plates to collide and interact with others as well as to separate one from other, this is called Plate Tectonics. The lcontact Between the Crust and the Mantle is called the Mohorovich Discontinuity and it was discovered with Earthquakes investigatons. 3. The Outer Core: Its the second most thick layer of Earth, its composed by Iron and Nickel, the two most dense metals in Earth and the High Tempratures fruit of Nuclear Fussion and that remaining from Earth's Creation give these metals its liquid state, and if its liquid, then it can flow. This Flow produces friction with the Inner Core which is Solid, creating an Electro-Magnetic field (Earth's Magnetic field). 4. The Inner Core: The actual Center of the Earth, has a Radius of +/- 1220 kms. Composed Mainly by Iron, its believed that Pressure conditions overpasses the Temperature effects and this make the Inner core Solid. There is a lot more about this, but I dont think you really need it right now. God Bless you and be well.
