Atsie (atsie):

What is the difference between a word problem and a story problem in math? I have a very literal question on a Unit Project and I'm confused on which of these is which.

ILovePuppiesLol (ilovepuppieslol):

well a story problem, they are telling like a story, for example, timmy is walking to the park, how long did it take him at whatever speed, blah blah blah, a word problem can just be any problem that has words, like If a ladder is blah blah blah tall, how tall is the house

Atsie (atsie):

Soo....they both sound like the same thing to me haha. Well thanks @ILovePuppiesLol ^.^

OpenStudy (radar):

I have never been provided with a definition. A word problem may be something like this. What is the sum of 8 and 4? While a story might go like this: Mary can paint the house in 8 hours, while Paul only takes 4 hrs. How long will it take to paint the house if both Mary and Paul paint the house. But as ILovePuppiesLol said they both sound similar.

OpenStudy (radar):

Or was it you who said that?...

Atsie (atsie):

It was Ms Puppies :) (or Mr...I can never figure gender's with half these usernames on here) @radar I had a question that was in relation to this question that I need you to look at. I believe I tagged you recently.
