Write an equation of a line perpendicular to y = x - 5 in slope-intercept form that passes through the point (2, -7). (5 points) y= x - 7 y= 2x + 2 y= -2x - 5 y= -2x - 3
@pooja195 can u please help me
Okay so first we have to find out the gradient of the perpendicular line. Use the formula to find out the gradient of perpendicular line Gradient of the given line * gradient of perpendicular line =-1 Can you work it out?
not really i suck at geometry @FaiqRaees
What's the gradient of given line?
-1?
Gradient of given line is 1 Gradient is the constant with the variable x |dw:1459266899914:dw|
easy way...perpendicular lines have negative reciprocal slopes....all that means is find slope of original equation, flip it, and change the sign. ur slope in original equation is 1...or 1/1...flip it and change sign...making ur perp. eq. need a slope of - 1. u following this so far ?
yes i think so
i am not getting ur answer choices...is problem written correctly
