OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are these equations rational or irrational and why??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (bobo-i-bo):

O.o To prove them is not trivial!

OpenStudy (bobo-i-bo):

The second is relatively simple, can you do that one? Possibly the third one as well?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't kno how, that's why i'm asking for some help.

OpenStudy (bobo-i-bo):

Do you know what the definitions of rational and irrational numbers are?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Irrational numbers are numbers that cannot be expressed as a ratio of two integers.

OpenStudy (bobo-i-bo):

And rational numbers are numbers which can be expressed as a fraction of two integers ^_^

OpenStudy (bobo-i-bo):

So do you think you can express the second one in terms of a fraction of two integers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes for the second one, it's rational

OpenStudy (bobo-i-bo):

:)

OpenStudy (bobo-i-bo):

How about the fourth one? Can you express that as a rational number?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The first one is irrational, the second rational, third is irrational, and the fourth is rational. Am I right?

OpenStudy (bobo-i-bo):

yup! :)

OpenStudy (bobo-i-bo):

Lol, any reasoning though? :P
