OpenStudy (anthonyym):

Ok I think you can do this using geometry. Sin of an angle and cos of an angle = 90 degrees.

OpenStudy (anthonyym):

Think they're like complementary angles or along those lines.

OpenStudy (anthonyym):

So the angle 8x-18 and the angle 5x+4 will equal 90 degrees because of the relationship between sine and cosine.

OpenStudy (anthonyym):

Here's an example: sin30 = 0.5 and cos60 = 0.5. This is because the angles 30 and 60 are complementary. Therefore they will yield the same value. Do you get that?

OpenStudy (littleredriding):

Yes, I do

OpenStudy (littleredriding):

@anthoyym So is it thiss : \[(8x - 18) + (5x + 4) = 90 \] \[x = 8\]
