OpenStudy (osgood):

Will medal!!!! How do you find the lateral area of a square pyramid? All i need is a formula Please!!

OpenStudy (osgood):

help

OpenStudy (taylor0402):

//www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=How+do+you+find+the+lateral+area+of+a+square+pyramid%3F

OpenStudy (taylor0402):

go to that is gives you the formula

OpenStudy (osgood):

Can you just post the formula?

OpenStudy (taylor0402):

ugh fine

OpenStudy (taylor0402):

no thats not what i use

OpenStudy (mathmale):

"square pyramind?" What does the base look like?

OpenStudy (osgood):

whats it sound like?

OpenStudy (taylor0402):

dude the formula is in the link

OpenStudy (mathmale):

That question was for Osgood.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\(\sf L = Pl\) Where \(\sf P\) is the perimeter of the base, and \(\sf l\) is the slant height.

OpenStudy (osgood):

thanks

OpenStudy (mathmale):

@greenlegodude57 : Would you mind quoting some reference? Where did that formula come from?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Osgood: What is the formula for the area of a triangle of height h and base x?

OpenStudy (osgood):

Why?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

I'm checking out that formula given to you by the other user. Are you interested in accuracy or are you not?

OpenStudy (osgood):

one minute

OpenStudy (ijlal):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30PMDf09Dog Video aint mine but i think this might help you

OpenStudy (osgood):

the base side of my triangle is 8 and the slant height is 22 the answer I came up with is 704, that does not seem right does it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, you did it incorrectly.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\(\sf L = Pl\) \(\sf L = (8 \times 8)(22)\)

OpenStudy (mathmale):

"the base side of my triangle is 8 and the slant height is 22" @Osgood: What is the area of ONE of the four lateral sides? Mind showing your work?

OpenStudy (osgood):

I found out how to do it ( friend showed me )

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Glad you've found the correct answer. Unfortunately, that formula L=PI is not correct. That's why I asked you to work with me to develop a valid formula for the lateral area of that square pyramid of yours.

OpenStudy (osgood):

I realized it was not right, I found this formula in my school 4(1/5*Base*slant height)
