OpenStudy (ejayy12):

What is the equation of the line that passes through (0, 2) and has a slope of 0? a.y=-2 b.y=2 c.x=2

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

any ideas?

OpenStudy (ejayy12):

A? y=-2

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

|dw:1459447890000:dw|keep in mind it will look something like this because it has a slope of 0

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

nope not a

OpenStudy (ejayy12):

B

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

explain why you think its B

OpenStudy (mathmale):

|dw:1459448077430:dw|

OpenStudy (ejayy12):

I thought it was on the y-axis but its not C

OpenStudy (ejayy12):

its C

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

okay then explain to me why its C

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Explain your reasoning. Why C? Reb: Please stick with y-axis being vertical and x-axis being horizontal. Thank you.

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

oops sorry mistake |dw:1459448228996:dw| yes thanks mathmale for the correction

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

okay so @ejayy12 please explain why you think its B or C

OpenStudy (mathmale):

@ejayy12: If you want help with this problem, you're going to have to get involved. Where is the explanation of your choice of C? If you can't provide one, then perhaps C was the wrong choice.

OpenStudy (mathmale):

That was Rebecca's and my last message to you until you respond.

OpenStudy (ejayy12):

I thought C because it lied on the x-axis and was +

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

look at the picture i just gave you

OpenStudy (mathmale):

@ejayy12: No, the given line does not rest upon the x-axis.

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

REMEMBER: when x=0 your y will be your y intercept therefore (0, 2) - 2 will be when your line hits the y axis also keep in mind that your slope is zero, which means it will be horizontal line

OpenStudy (mathmale):

@ejayy12:: Open the draw utility (below) and draw a horizontal line. Identify the slope of this line.

OpenStudy (ejayy12):

So is it B

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

why is it b?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

@ejayy12:: Open the draw utility (below) and draw a horizontal line. Identify the slope of this line. I do not deal with "is it this?" or "is it that?" questions. Please answer my questions and Rebecca's if you want help.

OpenStudy (ejayy12):

the 2 is not a negative

OpenStudy (mathmale):

What question were you trying to answer there?

OpenStudy (ejayy12):

it cant be A its negative
