The coordinate plane below represents a city. Points A through F are schools in the city. Part A: Using the graph above, create a system of inequalities that only contain points B and C in the overlapping shaded regions. Explain how the lines will be graphed and shaded on the coordinate grid above. Part B: Explain how to verify that the points B and C are solutions to the system of inequalities created in Part A. Part C: Lisa can only attend a school in her designated zone. Lisa's zone is defined by y > 2x + 5. Explain how you can identify the schools that Lisa is allowed to attend.

OpenStudy (noseboy908):

Is there a section of part a's graph that you see as shaded? The instructions mention a shaded area.

OpenStudy (fairy733189):

No but it says to explain how they would be shaded

OpenStudy (fairy733189):

oh wait your right

OpenStudy (fairy733189):

mmmm I don't see a shaded part

OpenStudy (noseboy908):

Eh...is this from an online assignment?

OpenStudy (fairy733189):

yes

OpenStudy (noseboy908):

Then perhaps try to reload the problem if you can see a shaded area on your side. If you can't see a shaded area at all, then I don't think we can do this problem.

OpenStudy (fairy733189):

then we can't do the problem because I still don't see a shaded area :(

OpenStudy (noseboy908):

Well, I was partially incorrect. We can do part c without a or b. So let's tackle that one. Part C states "Lisa can only attend a school in her designated zone. Lisa's zone is defined by y > 2x + 5. Explain how you can identify the schools that Lisa is allowed to attend."

OpenStudy (fairy733189):

Great!!1

OpenStudy (fairy733189):

I don't know how to do that though

OpenStudy (noseboy908):

Let's start with what you know. What is slope-intercept form? How is it written?

OpenStudy (fairy733189):

i'm sorry I have to go. I know I said I had until 3 but I have to go now. Thanks for helping though!!! :)

OpenStudy (noseboy908):

No problem. If you still have time later tonight or tomorrow, please mention me in a question.

OpenStudy (fairy733189):

ok thanks!!!
