tell me your thoughts on it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have no clue honestly, these are the only questions that blew my mind out of 35 questions.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

ok one sec while I draw on the drawing

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

ok to start things off, do you agree with what I've wrote on this attached image?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

and do you agree with this next statement? See attached

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, they're all 90 degrees

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

so that means triangle NHM is a right triangle triangle OHP is a right triangle agreed?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

ok so using these facts listed below * triangle NHM is a right triangle * triangle OHP is a right triangle * NM = OP (given) * MH = HP (shown in attachment 7-1.jpg) we can conclude that triangle NHM = triangle OHP by the hypotenuse leg theorem HL theorem for short

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

NM = OP are the pairs of hypotenuses (the H) MH = HP are the pairs of legs (the L) this HL theorem only works for right triangles which is why we must first determine if the triangles are right triangles or not

Thank you!

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you're welcome
